With less than a week before the spring semester begins, Sonya Bonnin ’06 is still hospitalized at the Yale-New Haven Hospital following the Dec. 14 accident that caused serious leg injuries.
According to New Haven Police officer Craig Dixon, the driver of a minivan lost control of the vehicle because of icy road conditions, slid through an intersection and pinned Bonnin against a railing in front of Pierson College.
Bonnin’s mother, Tito Bonnin, said that although the road to recovery has been long, she hopes her daughter will make a full recovery.
“She’s recovering [at] a slow pace but she’s getting there,” said Tito Bonnin, who declined to release further details regarding her daughter’s condition.
Joe Fahrendorf ’06 was also injured in the accident but was released from the Yale-New Haven Hospital on Dec. 15.
