To the Editor:
I did not find Roger Low’s “when the Schiavo hit the fan” line very amusing in his editorial last Thursday (“Schiavo case: when political priorities go awry,” 3/24). As someone who believes that human life is infinitely valuable and utterly irreplaceable, I am dumbfounded by someone who could blatantly substitute a severely handicapped patient’s name for human excrement, while claiming to offer compassion by supporting the same patient’s alleged “right to die” in the very same article.
