While it may be premature to place the “dynasty” tag on the Bulldogs, there is no doubt that the team has put together the best two years in program history. Following an undefeated 2003-2004 season and a national championship, this year’s squad had quite a tall order to follow. However, with a star-studded lineup and the national individual champion returning, the 2004-2005 season may have been even more impressive than the first. The Bulldogs claimed 49 out of 54 possible Ivy League matches, sweeping Dartmouth, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell and Brown. Following another undefeated Ivy League season, the team proceeded to slice through the competition to claim its second consecutive Howe Cup and finish the season right where it began it — at No. 1. With seven out of their top nine players returning yet again for the 2005-2006 campaign, there is no reason to think that these Bulldogs cannot claim a third straight national title.
