To the Editor:

As someone with fond memories of morning Directed Studies talks in the Whitney Humanities Center, where I never failed to get knowledge, or sleep, or both, I was shocked and sickened to hear about the prank, hi-tech but lo-brow, that interrupted Wednesday’s philosophy lecture (“Pornographic audio disrupts D.S. lecture,” 1/27). The sounds of passion are inappropriate, indeed. Especially for D.S. students.

One quibble, though: It sounds odd to say “pornographic audio” or “pornographic tape.” Shouldn’t that be “pornophonic”?
