University police arrested and charged a man on the night of Nov. 21 for carrying a dangerous weapon.
A clerk at 150 York St. called the police, fearing that the man might rob his building, University Police Lt. Michael Patten said.
Patten said James Davis, a 32-year-old man from New Haven, denied his presence in front of 150 York St. and tried to flee when Officer Ethan Mitkowski later stopped him at the corner of Chapel and High streets. Davis then allegedly pulled out a gun the police later identified as a pellet gun.
“They ended up arresting him for carrying a dangerous weapon, brandishing a facsimile gun and interfering with an officer,” Patten said.
Patten said the clerk made the police call after he saw Davis behaving in a suspicious manner in front of the garage of his building.
