To the Editor:

A comment on the abortion controversy (“Candlelight vigil protests abortion,” 10/22): Terrorists and murderers believe that it is sometimes permissible to kill an innocent human being to solve a human problem. But abortion also kills an innocent child. Proponents of “abortion rights” dress up their position by arguing that it is a conflict between the life of a child and the life of its mother. The fact is that abortion is seldom performed under life-threatening situations for the mother. Regardless of one’s prior convictions, let each one of us examine with a fair mind where one should stand on this issue.
