Elliott Mogul ’05 wants to re-energize the Undergraduate Organizations Funding Committee by making it more accessible.
“A lot of organizations don’t know they can get money from the UOFC,” he said.
As a current representative on the Freshman Class Council and the Yale College Council, and the communications chairman of the FCC, Mogul said that if he is elected as UOFC chairman, he will try to inform students about the role of the organization.
“I want to make sure I personally am available to club presidents and treasurers,” he said.
Mogul said he also hopes to maintain a close working relationship with the YCC.
“I’ve had a lot of experience with the UOFC this year, partially from my involvement with FCC and with YCC,” he said. “I really want to see the YCC working with the UOFC to — really address issues that matter most to students.”
Mogul said he plans to improve accessibility to the UOFC through measures such as a UOFC bulletin that would go out after each meeting.
He added that he also plans to create a comprehensive online guide that will make the purpose of the UOFC more clear and more available.
“If you’re a new organization, [it will tell you] how to go about with funding and registering the organization,” he said.
Mogul said he thinks his qualifications for the position come from his involvement with the FCC and YCC this year, as well as his experiences in the past.
Last year, he served on the Special Committee of the United Way of Miami-Dade County in Florida. He said the group reallocated over $300,000 to various local charities to help minority children and adolescents.
“I have experience allocating money,” he said.
