To the Editor:

The article (“Herald may not print special Valentine’s issue,” 1/28) brought an interesting point to the fore. In the intensely academic environment of Yale, students often take themselves quite seriously. The publication of the Herald’s Valentine’s issue, on the other hand, allows students to engage in those typically harmless antics that popularly characterize the collegiate experience.

True, it may be filled with emotional cheese and baseless insults, but Yalies should admit to themselves from time to time that they — like college students everywhere — enjoy indulging in a little anonymity. As an outlet for our opinions, however frivolous, the Valentine’s issue should continue to serve the Yale community.
