Following through on weeks of warnings, Gov. John G. Rowland said Tuesday that he will call the Legislature into special session to address a growing budget deficit now estimated at $300 million.
The session will begin at noon Nov. 13 and finish by midnight Nov. 16, Rowland said.
Rowland’s action comes one day after Democratic legislative leaders acknowledged that a special session is needed to address the state’s skyrocketing deficit.
The Republican governor first suggested the session two weeks ago, saying the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the nation had jolted an already weakened state economy.
