To the Editor:

While the Yale Daily News article (“2,500 March for Yale’s unions,” 10/8) dealt with some of the key aspects in the Hope Not Fear event on Oct. 5, there was one part of the coverage that could be emphasized: students. Roughly 200 Yale undergraduates joined workers, clergy, elected officials and New Haven community members to talk, not only about workers’ rights, but also about the institution of a real democracy at Yale, and about a responsible partnership between the University and the city.

It was the first time most of us had seen Yale sophomores, Fair Haven congregants and Mayor DeStefano standing on the same stage, working for a common goal.
