The men’s golf team battled through stormy weather to win the Toski Invitational Oct. 6-7 at Hickory Ridge Country Club in Amherst, Mass. The Bulldogs defeated a field of 22 teams with a two-round total of 10 over par 586 — 295 and 291.
Only two teams were within 20 strokes of the Elis. Central Connecticut State University finished second, 11 strokes behind with a total of 597. Ivy League rival Dartmouth placed a distant third with a score of 603.
Captain Chris Eckerle ’02 won the tournament with a one-under-par total of 143, including a final round three-under-par 69. Adam Cyrus ’02 finished in a tie for second with a total of 146 after firing a one-under-par 71 in the final round.
All five of the Bulldogs finished in the top-11 of the 108-man field. Sophomores Neel Williams and Alex Fulton finished in a tie for eighth with identical scores in both rounds of 73 and 76 for 5 over par totals of 149. Freshman Steve Gray, who was the team’s top finisher the week before, placed 11th with back-to-back rounds of 75 for a 6-over total of 150.
This weekend the Bulldogs host the Macdonald Cup at the Yale Golf Course.
