A 45-year-old woman drove her car through the front doors of a Target store in New Britain early Sunday morning, negotiating around a rack of carts and down an aisle before crashing, police said.

There were about 20 employees in the store when the car came careering through at about 4 a.m., police told WVIT-TV. Nobody was injured.

Melodie Morsicato of Naugatuck was charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.

She was still behind the wheel of the car and attempting to drive it when officers dragged her from the car in the store’s lawn furniture section, police said.

She gave no reasons for her actions, police said. She was sent to New Britain General Hospital for observation.

Police said there was a strong odor of alcohol in the car.

The store was closed Sunday for the Easter holiday. It was to reopen on Monday.

When the store’s general manager, Jim Coyle, was first told about the incident Sunday morning, he thought a car was stuck in the front doors.

“I didn’t realize it was going to go all the way through the store to the end, take a left and go down an aisle and come back another aisle,” Coyle told WFSB-TV. “I’ve never seen anything like that.”
