High ceiling for 2018 Elis

The Bulldogs have stalled out in the NCAA Round of 16 each of the last three years. Although the 2016 Elis spent three weeks atop the national poll, Yale has not made the quarterfinal since 2012 and the Final Four since 1990. But next year, the Elis have the potential to be scary good, with head coach Andy Shay fielding arguably his most talented team ever. Read more

Reeves ’18 named 2017–18 captain

Reeves is the fourth consecutive captain to hail from the state of New York and will take over responsibilities from graduating defender Brian Pratt ’17. He is the first offensive player to captain the Elis since Brendan Gibson ’10 in 2010. Read more

The Elis (10–5, 5–1 Ivy) have won all but one of the six Ivy League tournaments since the four-team playoff was introduced in 2012, but the 2017 showdown was the first to be played in New Haven. Yale needed every bit of its home-field advantage in front of a packed crowd at Reese Stadium, rallying from a three-goal halftime deficit to top third-seeded Brown (10–6, 4–2). Read more

After an entire 60-minute regulation game and three sudden-death overtime periods, Yale (9–5, 5–1 Ivy) and Penn (7–6, 3–3) still remained deadlocked in a 12–12 contest. However, success in the faceoff X and offensive control throughout the game ultimately guided the Bulldogs to a one-goal victory and a spot playing Brown on Sunday. Read more
