Classes will resume on Wednesday, after a Tuesday afternoon update from emergency management officials said that Blizzard Juno’s slight turn to the east overnight lessened its overall impact on campus.

Yale’s offices and departments will also resume operations, though the local blizzard warning remains in place. A statewide travel ban remains in effect, as do New Haven’s parking bans, which will last through noon on Thursday. Emergency officials encouraged commuters to campus to carpool, as the Yale Shuttle Bus system will resume Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. on normal routes.

According to an email sent from Senior Advisor to the President Martha Highsmith and Director of Emergency Management Maria Bouffard, snow accumulations in New Haven are at least seven inches, with the possibility of another six throughout the rest of the morning.

With wind gusts of up to 40 miles an hour in the forecast and wind chills near zero, Highsmith and Bouffard encouraged students who did not have to venture outdoors to stay inside.

“Crews in New Haven and at Yale will be working hard to clear roads, walkways, and parking lots as soon as possible,” the email stated.

Dining hall hours will also resume to normal starting with dinner Tuesday night.
