“Praise.” Such was the reaction of many a Yalie upon hearing the news that classes today had been cancelled. You don’t have to be a freshman or a southerner to enjoy a good snow day. Do stay safe, but when things clear up, we encourage you to get out and build a snowman or something. Your p-set will still be there when it all melts.

Where are we? And so it begins. 50 Most season is upon us, as Rumpus launched its annual Facebook Contest yesterday with voting to remain open through Feb. 1. Last year’s winner, the TD Butt, racked up 915 likes to take home the prize.

Good job, buddy. An Instagram novelty account surfaced yesterday in a user named “BuddyTakesYale,” who propped up a cardboard cutout of Buddy the Elf around campus. We guess it makes sense with all the snow on the ground, but we’re still not sure we get it. Thanks, anyway, for posing with yesterday’s front page, bud.

Making moves. Tyler Varga ’15 can’t/won’t stop on his journey to the league. After a stellar, arguably MVP-worthy performance in last weekend’s Senior Bowl, the running back received an invitation to the NFL Combine, where his Herculean self is sure to shine.

VC-who? It’s early, sure, but ESPN College Basketball analyst Joe Lunardi is already feeling the March Madness. His latest bracket slots our very own Elis for the 13th seed in the East bracket for a date with Virginia Commonwealth.

Super Sears. And while bracketology may be pure speculation, there’s no denying that a few Bulldogs have put together some fine performances this season. Justin Sears ’16 took home Ivy League Player of the Week honors yesterday, mainly for his 27-point, 9-rebound game against Brown on Saturday.

What are the odds? One of the best parts of Super Bowl Sunday is making prop bets on any of the odd, one-off things that could transpire between the Seahawks and Patriots next Sunday. According to a Monday article in Bloomberg, the odds are 20 to 1 that an Ivy Leaguer (either New England’s James Develin from Brown or Seattle’s Cornell’s Bryan Walters) scores a touchdown in the big game.

New Glory. Thanks to the savings and efforts of numerous city employees, a sparkling star-spangled is ready to fly outside the U.S. District Court on Church Street once its tattered predecessor is taken down.
