Good night, and good luck. With the end of classes comes the end of production for the News and, more importantly, the beginning of reading period. Enjoy this final weeekend before it all gets real. We’ll see you on the other side.

Oh, sweet relief. In anticipation of the darkest time of the year, several study breaks have already been planned. On Wednesday, for example, Mind Matters will be hosting a hot chocolate event in Bass Cafe, one night after therapy dogs will make an appearance in the library and one night before a stampede of naked people will run through it. Evidently, Bass is the place to be next week.

While we still can. With one last shot at letting loose, a number of campus groups are using this weekend to get in some celebration before people begin burrowing themselves in work.  Among them are the AACC, YIRA and AEPi, all of which are holding holiday parties tonight.

Caroling for a cause. Meanwhile, the YCC will be staging its own event with a very specific purpose in mind: Protesting the provisional 2015-16 academic calendar to give back Christmas to the students. Carols and Cocoa takes place this afternoon.

Blue Christmas. Bees N Cheer — one of the most popular performance events of the year — takes place tomorrow in SSS 114, courtesy of Tangled Up In Blue. We hear that, instead of bees, the group will be providing cheese and… something else.

Champions’ Reunion. This weekend, the men’s hockey team will take on Union at Ingalls Rink in a matchup that pits the last two national champions against each other. Fight on.

Say Hay. One player taking the ice in that game will be forward John Hayden ’17, who was recently named to the preliminary roster of the United States national team for the World Junior Championships, which will be held this month in Canada.

Scout’s honor. New Haven Police Department Chief Dean Esserman and Yale Police Department Chief Ronnell Higgins were awarded the 2014 “Good Scout” award by a committee of peers and past winners, NHPD spokesman David Hartman announced in a Thursday release. The award is presented by the Boy Scouts of America, Connecticut Yankee Council.
