Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy signed an order on Tuesday, giving Connecticut State Health Commissioner Jewel Mullen the power to order quarantines of people who have been exposed to the Ebola virus, according to Boston, Mass., news outlet WCVB.

The order declared a public health emergency in the state, although Mullen confirmed in the WCVB story that, to her knowledge, there are currently no cases of Ebola infection or exposure in Connecticut.

Malloy also issued a statement, saying that the order will help state resources move quickly in case a suspected Ebola case does arise.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have tested dozens of people nationwide for the virus, but only one, 42 year-old Thomas Duncan, was found to be infected. Duncan died on Wednesday morning after being quarantined in a Dallas, Texas, hospital.
