YNHH ranked Connecticut’s top hospital
Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) is both Connecticut’s top hospital and one of the nation’s best, according to recently released rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
Of 4,743 hospitals analyzed in the 2014-2015 report, only 144 centers received a national ranking in even one adult specialty. Eleven of YNHH’s specialties finished in this highest ranking, including its diabetes & endocrinology department, ranked 7th nationally, and its psychiatry department, ranked 11th.
YNHH Chief Medical Officer Peter Herbert wrote in a Monday morning email that the rankings are a testament to the “tremendous resources” that YNHH and the Yale School of Medicine have committed to developing clinical programs over the last decade.
“It is our expectation that in the next decade all 16 programs evaluated by U.S. News & World Report will have national rankings like the 11 recognized this year,” Herbert wrote.
The Report’s rankings are based on a series of criteria — including patient safety, patient mortality, and reputation — as measured by an annual survey distributed to physicians across each region.
