White House task force on sexual assault to release guidelines
Tomorrow, the White House task force on sexual assault is expected to release guidelines for colleges and universities to more aggressively confront and reduce the number of sexual assaults on college campuses.
According to the New York Times, the report will recommend that administrators conduct anonymous surveys of sexual assault cases once every three years, ensure the confidentiality of sexual assault reports and implement bystander intervention training. The White House will likely push for measure from Congress to enforce their proposed guidelines.
The increasing pressure to reform sexual misconduct resources at universities stems from a series of highly publicized rapes on college campuses, according to the Times. President Barack Obama established the task force in January following a report on the White House Council on Women and Girls.
