The Golden Ticket: Charity YSO Show Auction

In the past, the News has brought you annual photos, reviews and articles, but nothing that rivals the experience itself. This year, XC has acquired the last available YSO ticket, and it’s yours if you want it…

Following the widespread mayhem of midnight on Oct. 9, students across campus complained to Cross Campus about not having gotten one of the 2,700 Yale Symphony Orchestra Halloween Show tickets that sold out within 10 minutes of going online. The long-standing holiday tradition has become an increasingly hyped up event, causing rapid ticket sell-outs in recent years. One senior told Cross Campus this year she would “only be trading this ticket for a post-grad job opportunity.”

Every single available seat in Woolsey Hall’s massive auditorium has been purchased, according to Brian Robinson, the orchestra’s managing director. The frenzy is not a major surprise given the highly positive reception from students the event has received in past years — see previous News’ coverage here, here and here. While in the past, the News has brought readers to the concert through articles, photographs, and live-streams, Cross Campus is now taking you front and center in coordination with the Yale Symphony Orchestra.

One YSO ticket will be auctioned off, for a good cause, right here on this page on Monday with proceeds benefiting the United Way, a charity selected by the YSO.

Here is how the auction works:

  • The auction will be open for 12 hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday Oct. 28 giving you all day to check in.
