School of Nursing readies new West Campus home
Fifteen months after Yale announced that the School of Nursing would move to West Campus, the transition to the new location is nearly complete.
At 110,000 square feet, the School of Nursing’s new home is nearly twice as large as the previous location on Church Street near Union Station. More than two-thirds of the facility has been renovated and it now boasts a large social center, a mock hospital room and modern classrooms.
“The move provides the school with space that matches the quality of the program and provides them with an opportunity to do absolutely first-class training,” said Vice President for West Campus Planning and Program Development Scott Strobel. “I am optimistic for the wonderful things happening for the school in their new space.”
Roughly 80 students arrived on Aug. 19 for orientation, and about 350 will ultimately call West Campus home this fall.
The new facility will receive an official dedication on Oct. 4 and 5, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the Yale School of Nursing.
