- Economics professor Benjamin Polak has been named Yale’s next provost, replacing President-elect Peter Salovey. Read more about the popular professor and his appointment in tomorrow’s News.
- More than 80 second-year MBA students from the School of Management will take intensive weeklong courses abroad this March as part of Immersion Week, one of the first initiatives of SOM’s new Global Network for Advanced Management. Five schools in the international network, including SOM, will offer courses taught by their faculty and hold various events for students from the other four institutions during Immersion Week this March. The goal of Immersion Week is to enable business students from around the world to interact with professors and MBA candidates from their peer institutions, SOM administrators said, forging relationships that could result in collaborative projects in the future.
- Jeanine Dames has been appointed as the new director of Undergraduate Career Services and assistant dean in Yale College, according to an email sent by Yale College Dean Mary Miller Monday morning. Dames’ appointment follows the abrupt departure of previous director Allyson Moore, who left her post in September for personal reasons. Dames, who came to Yale in 2007, most recently acted as deputy director for employment programs in UCS, and has also served as director of the Yale Law School Career Development Office and senior associate director in the School of Management Career Development Office.
