Yale running back Tyler Varga ’15 can add another accolade to his growing list of honors this year: He was recently awarded first team All-New England honors.
Varga was selected as the football team’s MVP and earned first team all-Ivy honors on offense and second team all-Ivy honors on special teams earlier this season. A transfer student from Kitchener, Ontario, he ended the season with 935 total yards for the Bulldogs, putting him in first place for all-purpose yards per game in the Football Championship Subdivision.
Varga, the youngest player on the Bulldogs offense, averaged 194.25 total yards per game. Despite missing two Ivy League games, he still managed to carry the ball for the 22nd most yards in the FCS.
Along with the other All-New England honorees, Varga will receive recognition at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, Dec. 6, in Stoneham, Mass.
