Yale singing sensation and teenage heartthrob Dez Duron ’14 was eliminated from the popular NBC singing show “The Voice” last night, much to the dismay of thousands of fans and his coach Christina Aguilera.

Duron took a year off from playing football at Yale after earning a spot on the reality program. The Louisiana native made a big splash early in the show’s season with his blind audition, a rendition of “Sara Smile” that prompted coaching offers from three of the judges. Duron had formerly appeared on the show last February but did not make it past the elimination rounds, something that Aguilera later said made her “so angry.”

Despite leaving the show, Duron has amassed a huge number of fans, boasting more than 60,000 fans on Facebook and nearly 12,000 followers on Twitter.
