University promotes six professors

Six professors were promoted at a meeting of the Board of Permanent Officers on May 17.

Two tenured associate professors in the Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry Department — Enrique De La Cruz and Andrew Miranker — were promoted to full professors with tenure, Yale College Dean Mary Miller said.

Two professors of mechanical engineering and applied science were also promoted: associate professor Eric Dufresne was promoted to associate professor with tenure, while associate professor Jan Schroers became a full professor with tenure.

Michael McGovern, an assistant professor of anthropology, was promoted to associate professor with tenure. Assistant professor of political science Susan Hyde became an associate professor with tenure as well.

These most recent promotions come after seven professors were granted tenure at the BPO meeting March 29. The BPO is a committee of all tenured, full professors in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
