With victories over Stony Brook and Boston University in the past week, the No. 18 women’s tennis team (9-2 overall, 0-0 Ivy) ascended to its highest ranking of the year just in time to face its toughest opponents.

Despite incurring their second loss of the season to Syracuse 4-3 on February 26, the Elis have returned to their winning ways in the past few weeks.

The Bulldogs made quick work of Stony Brook, rolling over the Seawolves 7-0. Yale took the doubles point, winning all three matches. In singles, only two Bulldogs were pushed to three sets, Hannah Yu ’15 at No. 2 and captain Stephanie Kent ’12 at No. 4. Of special note were two dominations, the first at No. 3 where Blair Seideman ’14 won 6-0, 6-0 and the second at the hands of Annie Sullivan ’14 at No. 6, who defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1.

The Boston University Terriers fared little better, losing to the Elis 6-1.

Next weekend, the Bulldogs will face their most trying road trip of the season in Miami. Yale will face both No. 25 Mississippi and No. 12 Miami (Fla.).
