THE NEWS

  • In a Tuesday email to the Yale community, Deputy Provost Stephanie Spangler released a report outlining cases of sexual misconduct brought to University officials between July and December of 2011. Twenty-nine Yale undergraduates brought sexual misconduct complaints to the University-Wide Committee on Sexual Misconduct, Yale’s Title IX Coordinators and the Yale Police Department, according to the report. Read more in tomorrow’s News.
  • Donaldson Commons, SOM’s student center, closed its cafeteria for budgetary reasons in 2010, and students will remain without their own dining hall until the new SOM campus opens in 2013. To compensate for the shortage of dining options, Sam Pogosov SOM ’12 and Jennifer Mancke SOM ’12 coordinated with administrators and local restaurants last fall to create a website where students could order lunch, and this semester the Little Salad Shop became the fourth restaurant to join the service.
  • University President Richard Levin joined a growing consortuim of buisiness and community leaders last week formulating and advocating for education reform in Connecticut.

Levin, along with four presidents and CEOs of several Connecticut-based companies, joined the Connecticut Council for Education Reform’s (CCER) board of directors last week, forming a growing consortium of business and civic leaders calling for major change to the state’s public school system.
