THE NEWS

  • Though few current members of the women’s hockey knew Mandi Schwartz ’11 personally, her legacy continues to define a team that is struggling to succeed competitively, but that continues to lead a tireless campaign in support of Schwartz and cancer patients across the United States and Canada. As the Elis take to the ice tonight against Princeton in the second-annual “White Out for Mandi” fundraising game, they will be fighting not just to secure a second conference win but to honor Schwartz’s legacy.
  • By the time students and professors arrive on campus next fall, they will likely find a revamped, more “Facebook-like” course management site.

    Information Technology Services will soon begin testing a new system designed by Sakai, a community of leaders from universities and commercial organizations that developed Yale’s Classesv2 server.

  • Yale students are more open to having major discussions about race and culture over the Internet than in person, even though the quality of these discussions is lacking. But inherent problems with the existing physical venues for talking about race mean students can feel unrepresented or unwilling to attend. Aliyya Swaby reports in tomorrow’s WEEKEND cover.
