Today marks the start of the rest of our lives. Today is (what we hope will be the first annual) Morgan Freeman Day on campus.

The smooth-voiced actor will be speaking today in a free public event at Woolsey Hall at 4:30. Get there early, guys—even the official press release says so.

The Academy Award-winning actor’s theatrical credits include roles as God, Nelson Mandela, and Batman’s business guru (no biggie). Freeman won an Oscar in 2004 for his role in “Million Dollar Baby,” and he’s received critical and public acclaim for his work in classic films like “Driving Miss Daisy” and “The Shawshank Redemption.”

Despite his impressive theatrical roster, Freeman is perhaps best known to the public for his distinctive voice, which the Internet has called “magical,” “distinctive,” and “wise.” We here at the News could listen to Freeman’s voice all day, but we’ll settle for Tuesday afternoon.

Interested in preparing for Morgan Freeman Day in style? If you have the time, we recommend watching—or just listening to, really—2005’s “March of the Penguins,” in which Freeman lends his voice to documenting perhaps the most adorable, albeit melodramatic, penguin documentary ever.

Don’t have 80 minutes? Spare two or three and just watch this. You won’t regret it. We promise.
