THE NEWS

  • Tomorrow’s Election Day, and the Ward 1 aldermanic candidates are ready.

Both candidates are doing all they can to ensure victory in today’s election, with teams of volunteers for Sarah Eidelson ’12 and Vinay Nayak ’14 rising before polls open at 6:00 a.m. The election comes one day after a News survey showed the two candidates to be in a statistical dead heat. Keep up with the latest on this contested election all day tomorrow on yaledailynews.com.

  • Students sticking in New Haven over Thanksgiving break may have residential college dining options available during their stay.

The Yale College Council and the International Student Organization have collaborated this fall to urge Yale Dining to keep one dining hall open during the break. Residential Dining Director Regenia Phillips said Yale Dining is still in the process of analyzing finances to find a feasible solution, though YCC Secretary Matt Williams ‘13, who chairs YCC’s dining committee, said he expects Yale Dining to offer two meals per day Monday through Wednesday in one dining hall over the week-long fall recess.

  • Yale Law School faculty approved a pilot accelerated J.D./M.B.A. joint-degree program offered at the Law School and School of Management in late October, following nearly a year of program review.

The joint-degree program that Yale formally approved on Oct. 21 with minimal changes to its original structure has been offered by the University since fall 2009. The program allows students to graduate with a business degree and a law degree in six semesters, has no summer coursework requirement, and is among the shortest J.D./M.B.A. tracks in the nation.
