The coed sailing team now boasts a national champion.

This weekend, Cam Cullman ’13 emerged victorious at the ICSA Men’s Singlehanded National Championships in Chicago, Ill., in the Lasers category. Lasers are one-person boats sailed by a skipper without a crew, and only a few college regattas offer divisions in Lasers.

After finishing third last year at the same event, Cullman became only the second Yale men’s sailor ever to win the Men’s Singlehanded National Championship. Cullman won the regatta handily.

In addition, the women’s sailing team now holds the runner-up and second runner-up to the national champion in Laser Radials. Defending national champion Claire Dennis ’13 came up just short of claiming the title a second time and finished second overall. Last year’s fourth-place finisher, Emily Billing ’13, improved to third. Anne Haeger of Boston College, a senior, won the championship.
