Could a little Simpson-Johnson baby be the first member of the class of 2034?

Jessica Simpson, the 31-year-old singer, songwriter, fashion designer, muse, actress, reality star, occasional Daisy Duke and fiancee of former NFL tight end Eric Johnson ’01, is pregnant.

The Bulldog and the country star are expecting their first child, according to the front page of Simpson’s website, on which the Halloween-ready actress, clad in full-body costume with heavy eye makeup, proudly cradles her emerging baby bump. “It’s True!” the actress announced to her fans. “I’m going to be a mummy!” Though the pun’s humor is questionable, the pregnancy is confirmed as of Oct. 31.

Simpson is the wife of Eric Johnson ’01, 32, who played college football for the Bulldogs before being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. Back in 2001, the New York Times called Johnson’s tenure at Yale one of the “great careers in Ivy League history.” During the 1999 Harvard-Yale Game, Johnson “caught 21 passes for 244 yards, including the game-winning touchdown.” Impressive, but we’re inclined to think winning Ms. Simpson’s heart is his greatest accomplishment yet.

Johnson and Simpson announced their engagement publicly in Nov. 2010, but the two have still not yet tied the knot. We’ve got our fingers crossed for an on-campus wedding. Simpson was last on campus back in June, when she brought her trademark denim jackets along to Johnson’s 10-year class reunion. It seems like Jess had a good time; here’s hoping she’ll be back to visit with her little bundle of joy. And give the News first dibs on those baby pics.
