THE NEWS

  • The Student Employment Office suspended the off-campus jobs listings indefinitely after a dubious posting appeared this fall that sought to trick students out of their money, said Victor Stein, the Executive Director of Student Financial Services.
  • A week after Yale College reduced summer storage space in residential colleges, four residential college councils have signed a petition to Yale College Dean Miller to reevalute the policy. But Frank Keil, chair of the Council of Masters, said the new regulations will not be altered, though administrators are discussing ways to help students find outside storage options to make up for the lost space.
  • Swing Space housing was built in 1998 to house students when their colleges were undergoing renovations, but as of this September 156 students from seven residential colleges now call Swing Space home. A Swing Space College Council has formed in efforts to unify the group, but are Swing’s residents still just a stateless, displaced people? Ava Kofman investigates.
