Are you someone who has always wanted to show your Yale pride through baked goods?

Elis wishing to show off their cupcake capabilities finally have the chance. Katalina’s Bakery, working with the Yale Event Management Association, is sponsoring a Yale cupcake competition. Those interested in entering the fray can submit a recipe with a design and description to yale.event.management@gmail.com by Oct. 14.

So what makes a cupcake a Yale Cupcake?

“Something more than the typical blue and white theme,” said Lucy Chen ’14, vice president of marketing and publicity for YEMA. “We’re really looking for spunk and style. Like Yalies, the cupcake should be creative, original and exciting.”

Ultimately, the final decision rests in the hands (or mouths, rather) of the masses. The winner will be chosen by vote on Oct. 21 at the grand opening of Katalina’s Bakery on 43 Whitney Avenue. The winning cupcake will then be called the Yale Cupcake and will earn a spot on the menu in perpetuity.

The Yale Cupcake may also be sold at the Harvard-Yale game this year. Five people, chosen by lottery at the Oct. 21 event, will receive a free cupcake each week for the rest of the year.
