Two future Elis were selected in the NHL entry draft last week when defensemen Rob O’Gara and Colin Sullivan went 151st and 198th overall.

Both blueliners attend Milford Academy in Massachusetts and are scheduled to enroll at Yale in the fall of 2012. O’Gara, who will captain Milford’s reigning New England Prep School Champion team next year, was selected by the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins. Sullivan was selected by Montreal.

Incoming Yale freshman Matt Killian, a former teammate of Kenny Agostino ’14 at the Delbarton School in New Jersey, was was ranked higher in the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau prospect rankings than O’Gara, but was not drafted.

Harvard had four future student-athletes selected, and Cornell had three.

Three rising sophomores on the hockey team were drafted before they arrived at Yale: Agostino, Brad Peltz ’14 and Gus Young ’14. They are the team’s only current draft picks.

An earlier version of this blog post misstated that Matt Killian was drafted and the draftees’ class years.
