A day after its first-ever victory in the NCAA Tournament, the No. 30 women’s tennis (22–5, 6–1 Ivy) team was eliminated 4–0 in the second round by the third-ranked Duke Blue Devils, which featured a lineup consisted entirely of nationally ranked players.

The doubles duo of Lindsay Clark ’11 and Annie Sullivan ’14, who were named to Second Team All-Ivy, lost their match 8–0. The Blue Devils claimed a 7–4 lead against Vicky Brook ’12 and Elizabeth Epstein ’13, but the Bulldogs managed to fend off three match points before losing the doubles point, 8–4.

In singles play, the Blue Devils’ depth helped them to quickly claim three straight points and end the match. Stephanie Kent’ 12, who scored the game-winning point against William & Mary on Saturday, lost 6–0, 6–1. Sullivan lost 6–2, 6–3 while captain Stevi Petrelli ’11 dropped her match 6–1, 6–2.

Sunday’s loss marked the end of a strong season for the Bulldogs. In addition to an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, the Elis claimed their sixth Ivy League title and third straight ECAC Indoor Team Championship.

Duke will move on to the Round of 16 to face Georgia, who defeated Yale in the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
