THE NEWS

  • The Episcopal Church of Saint Paul and Saint James found its stained glass from the 1800s broken this weekend. An alarm went at 4 a.m. Saturday in the Episcopal Church of Saint Paul and Saint James. When Priest in Charge Alex Dyer and two police officers arrived at the scene, the perpetrator was nowhere to be found, and there were thousands of dollars worth in damages.
  • Taylor Spence GRD ’12 shelled out $1800last year for round-trip airfare, four nights at a resort and three meals a day in Lake Tahoe. But Spence’s trip to a history conference was for business, not for pleasure. The opportunity to present one’s own work and network with established professors makes conference attendance a sometimes costly necessity for graduate students. At the request of students, administrators in Yale’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences agreed to shift funds from graduate social events and commencement this year to help subsidize conference travel.
  • With jobs hard to come by in the current economy,some undergraduates turn to law school as a fallback plan, but Yale Law students interviewed said working after college can lead to a more directed and productive law school experience.
