This is a regular feature that will take a look at what’s going on at other schools in the Ivy League.

Harvard University

Maybe they are jealous of James? Model and medial personality Tyra Banks, known for a successful modeling and fashion career as well as “The Tyra Banks Show” and “America’s Next Top Model,” enrolled in Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Owner/President Management Program. She will attend classes teaching entrepreneurial skills and techniques for managing a company’s growth. Harvard was feeling left out ever since Natalie Portman graduated in 2003.

Princeton University

Toga, toga! Princeton University’s Sigma Chi fraternity became the only Greek organization on campus to have a residence after it recently opened up a chapter house on Witherspoon Street. Currently, the University does not officially recognize fraternities and sororities.

Columbia University

Columbia College Dean Michele Moody-Adams spoke at the second town hall meeting sponsored by the University’s Senate’s task force on military engagement, which has been trying to gauge student opinion on bringing the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program back to campus. In her opening address, Moody-Adams alluded to the potential return of an on-campus ROTC program after the repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, a federal policy that prohibited gays from openly serving in the military.

Dartmouth College

Dartmouth now has Collegiate Spark, a website created by Cantabs meant to “spur relationships you’ve already started with people in your community.” The website was first introduced to Dartmouth on Feb. 6 – the same day it reached the west coast at Stanford University. As of Monday evening, the site garnered 198 hopeful Dartmouth students looking for love, or, whatever people whose unofficial college mascot is a keg are looking for.

University of Pennsylvania

Yale officials aren’t the only ones concerned about smoking – last Sunday, the Undergraduate Assembly at the University of Pennsylvania debated a proposal to ban smoking on its campus. Currently, Penn bans smoking within 20 feet of campus buildings.

Brown University

Hungry? Try going Greek. Fraternities and sororities at Brown University – including Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Delta Phi – used sushi and Mediterranean dishes to attract new recruits, hosting special events and parties during their month-long rush processes. For example, Delta Tau hosted a “Hookah and Mediterranean Night” while others hosted open mic nights and served sushi and fondue. We just have one question: where were the “Jewlo shots”?

Cornell University

David P. Hajjar, dean of the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, was recently awarded a Fulbright grant to develop research initiatives in the biological sciences between Qatar University and Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. He will begin working in the Middle East this semester, trying to develop more research ties between Cornell and Qatar University and working with the biological science faculty there.
