Bring back ROTC. That message was a part of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday night.

While he did not directly mention Yale University, Obama called on colleges that have barred military recruiters and Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) programs to welcome them back. He also praised the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the military’s policy that banned gays and lesbians from openly serving.

Since the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” a number of Ivy League universities that have banned ROTC from their campus, including Harvard, Columbia and Yale, have expressed interest in the program’s return.
