The New Haven Register weighs in on Levin for NEC

Rumors have swirled that University President Richard Levin is among President Barack Obama’s top three choices for the position of director of the National Economic Council for several weeks. While no announcement has come yet from Washington, the New Haven Register published an editorial Thursday stating that, as an economist, serving as NEC director would be a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” for Levin. The editorial further described Levin’s experiences as qualifying him for the position, and concludes:

So we are torn. Much as we wish Levin would stay in New Haven, if the president calls, he should go. Obama could not ask for a better councilor.
