There were fireworks when Sam Tsui ’11 and Kurt Schneider ’10 visited “Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Thursday. Tsui and Schneider then performed a mash-up of Katy Perry’s “Firework” and Bruno Mars’ “Grenade.”

Speaking of freshmen and the holiday season, Saturday is the holiday dinner for the class of 2014 in Commons. An e-mail described the event as a “Harry Potter/Hogwarts-like experience.”

The mysterious graffiti artist is back with a tag across the street from the Gourmet Heaven on Whitney Avenue. A Nov. 30 tweet had a link to the tag and read: “Ditch Across from Whitney G-Heav//Roy & BIP Collab//Graf Critique #1.”

Director of the Yale Center for Public Health Preparedness Linda Degutis was named the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, according to a press release.

Yale Law School students are fighting the deportation of an illegal immigrant from Ecuador, Washington Colala, 44, the New Haven Register reported. The school’s Jerome Frank Legal Service Organization is appealing to federal immigration offiials to delay Colala’s scheduled deportation on Monday. According to the Register, Colala has been in the U.S. for 15 years, along with his 10-year-old daughter.

Two Yalies are up for a challenge. A Cheese Truck Challenge, that is. They will be competing at 4 p.m. on York Street, according to the truck’s Twitter account. The challenge is to create a sandwich and eat 10 of them in a row without vomiting. Among the prizes? The opportunity to name the sandwich, and the sandwich free for life. Joel Sircus ’14 is eating cheese and onion and Ric Best ’14 is going for cheese and tomato, Sircus said.
