BOOLA BOOLA | Men’s hockey team ranked at its highest ever

The Yale men’s hockey team has reached a new height.

Both national polls placed Yale (8-1, 4-0) second in the nation on Monday. It is the highest ranking in Yale hockey history and bests the team’s previous high of third, which they also reached for the first time this season.

The Elis vaulted into their new spot when they easily beat lowly Sacred Heart, 5-1 on Tuesday night and Boston University (7-1-5) tied Brown, 4-4. Voters reacted to those outcomes by putting Yale a spot ahead of BU in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll and tied for second with the Terriers in the USCHO.com poll.

The Bulldogs remain behind top-ranked Minnesota-Duluth (11-1-2), which received all but one of the first place votes across the two polls. BU received the other.

This weekend will offer the Elis a tough test to defend the new ranking. They face No. 15/16 Rensselaer on Friday night and No. 13 Union on Sunday afternoon.
