Thanks to three researchers at the Yale School of Medicine, video game enthusiasts can now game on without worry.

A Yale study published in the academic journal Pediatrics found that video games and health problems do not necessarily correlate. The study, which surveyed 4028 adolescents, reported that gaming is ‘normative’ for boys and did not negatively affect their health. However, there is a slight correlation between girls playing video games and getting into fights or carrying weapons to school.

Though the study concluded that the prevalence of problematic gaming is low, it also highlighted the need for more research to define safe levels of gaming and create effective strategies to prevent video games from becoming a health hazard.
