Cross Campus: 11.11.10

Bring it on. The Yale College Council is hosting a pep-rally at 9 p.m. tonight for Saturday’s Yale-Princeton football game. The event’s festivities include speeches from Coach Tom Williams, an appearance by Handsome Dan and an impromptu dance party.

But because Princeton doesn’t matter, “Harvard Sucks” cap sacs are being sold by the women’s water polo team for $15. According to the team’s Facebook event, the caps are “fannypacks for the head” and are the “only article of clothing you will ever need.”

Trumbull seniors need help getting back from Saturday’s tailgate. Because it is the class of 2011’s final home game, the Trumbull College Council seniors asked in an e-mail that someone else drive the U-haul back from the Princeton game. They wrote: “In the past the seniors have driven the U-haul but this time we would like to be able to have some extra fun and not worry about driving (you can probably sense why).”

In other Trumbull news, today is the eighth birthday of Dean Jasmina Besirevic-Regan’s daughter, Selma Regan. There will be a celebration at 5:30 p.m. in the Trumbull dining hall, according to an e-mail from the dean. Selma will be doling out the chocolate and vanilla cupcakes.

The Central Authentication System got a makeover Wednesday. The official announcement from Information Technology Services notes the new login service is more user friendly for mobile devices and that users may now change their passwords directly from the login screen.

Columbia University students will be able to live in gender-neutral doubles next academic year, the Columbia Spectator reported Wednesday. It remains to be seen if Barnard College students will participate in the program.

Bye bye Loko. The Washington state Liquor Control Board banned Four Loko Wednesday. The banning comes a month after nine Central Washington University students were hospitalized after consuming the drink.

The Yale International Students Financial Council is hosting an “All You Need to Know before You Hit the Road” event today. The workshop, according to its Facebook event, will show attendees how to get a United States driver’s license.

THIS DAY IN YALE HISTORY

1980 The Yale College Executive Committee sentences three undergraduates who stole a $10,000 portrait of former Berkeley Master and former University President Charles Seymour from the college to perform “significant services” in restitution for their actions.

doesn’t the fact that it’s been planned not make it an “impromptu” dance party and just a regular one?
