THE NEWS

  • University President Richard Levin and Mayor John DeStefano Jr. stood on the stage of Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School on College Street Tuesday morning to announce a joint initiative that will provide an opportunity for New Haven public school students to attend college without paying tuition.
  • Yale has organized transportation to Cambridge for students — less than two weeks before The Game.

    Associated Student Agencies (ASA) put up a link on its website Tuesday for students to buy chartered bus tickets to and from Harvard for $20 each way. Students interviewed said they were frustrated that the link appeared on a date so close to The Game, making it difficult for those who live far away determine travel plans.

  • After 22 years of operation, Panache Hair Salon in Chapel Street’s Sherman Alley will close its doors Saturday. Because of financial troubles, Panache owner Florence Pieczko is being forced to close up shop. Surrounding business owners expressed concern that the salon’s closing will decrease foot traffic in the already tucked away alley.
