Through the Lens: Detailing

Yale’s architecture reveals no shortage of detailing. Carved into campus buildings are all manner of figures and flourishes, from reading students to Latin sayings to colonial militamen. Though there’s not a medieval gargoyle to be found — much of campus was built in the 1930s, after all — Yale’s buildings hide many secrets in plain sight. Contributing photographer Stephanie Rivkin takes a closer look.
