Day of events supporting Schwartz ’11 organized for Nov. 6

The campaign to help women’s hockey forward Mandi Schwartz ’11 in her battle with leukemia will hit the trails on Nov. 6.

The Yale Club of New Haven, Yale and Quinnipiac athletics departments are organizing a day of events to support the Schwartz family beginning with “Mandi’s March” — a 7.5-mile walk along the Farmington Canal, which runs between the school’s hockey rinks.

Those marching for Schwartz will leave the trailhead by Quinnipiac’s TD Bank Sports Center, in Hamden, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m and end at the Yale Whale on Sachem Street. The organizers are suggesting a minimum $15 donation, with all proceeds going to Schwartz and her family.

The Yale and Quinnipiac men’s hockey teams are slated to compete in a 7 p.m. game at Ingalls Rink that Saturday.
