At $49,800, Yale is the 84th most expensive college, reported higher education news website Campus Grotto in its list of the 100 most expensive colleges for the 2010-’11 academic year. Ranked by tuition, room and board, Sarah Lawrence College topped the list at $56,420.

The Rumpus laughingly critiqued Yale Law professor Bruce Ackerman’s LAW ’67 latest book. No, not the Yale tabloid. The online culture magazine reviewed Ackerman’s book “The Decline and Fall of the American Republic” Tuesday. In response to two of Ackerman’s solutions on how to rein in an out-of-control Executive branch, author Bezalel Stern says there is only one appropriate response for a 21st century reader — “Ha ha.”

Two Yalies have been named to Fortune magazine’s “40 under 40” list, Yale Alumni Magazine Blog 06520 reported Tuesday. Eric Braverman ’97 LAW ’02, a partner at McKinsey and a former Whiffenpoof, earned the number 32 spot for his work on the Obama-Biden transition and in McKinsey’s efforts to assist Haitian reconstruction. Ahead of Braverman on the list, though, is Charles Best ’98, who landed in the 26th spot for creating a website called donorschoose.org that connects potential contributors to specific teachers’ requests for assistance.

Chris Dudley ’87 is changing up the political scene in Oregon with his gubernatorial bid, according to a Bloomberg article Tuesday. Known for being the “underdog” ever since his days in the NBA where he struggled with free-throws and rebounds, Dudley is now facing a whole new kind of opponent in his campaign against the Democratic candidate John Kitzhaber.

If only we could get a QR credit by watching “Good Will Hunting.” Daily Intel published a list of “The Ten Most Ridiculous-Sounding Math Classes Currently Offered at Liberal-Arts Colleges.” Yale, sadly, did not have any classes on the list.

Beating David Swensen GRD ’80: A thing to be proud of. John Wasik of Reuters wrote a column posted Tuesday in which he talks about how his “Nano” portfolio beat Chief Investment Officer Swensen’s. “And I’m no David Swensen, who has an incredible long-term record with Yale,” Wasik wrote.
