THE NEWS

  • The Study at Yale, the hotel across the street from the Yale School of Art on Chapel St, just opened an art gallery in its main lobby for School of Art students to display their work. The first artist selected to display her work, Njideka Akunyili ART ’11, opened her exhibit with a reception last Wednesday.
  • At Yale School of Medicine administrators said that accounts of personal or family illness in their applications could help applications in certain situations.
  • Copper Kitchen may be closing unless owner Bill Kalogeridis can secure the lease he wants from Yale. University Properties, which manages Yale’s commercial lots, offered Kalogeridis a one-year lease in 2008 that he declined, according to Abigail Rider, the associate vice president and director of University Properties. Kalogeridis said he wants a “reasonable” five-year lease — without that, he said, he plans to leave.
