Did Yale get a visit from Banksy?

A two-part graffito was stenciled between Dunham Lab and Leet-Oliver Memorial sometime between Thursday and Friday last week. One part, sprayed onto a side door of Dunham Lab, depicts a boy posting a sign saying “Lost Dog.” Across the driveway between the two buildings, “hiding” on the other side of a concrete wall bordering the driveway, is a picture of the dog in question.

Though the graffiti has some drips, the high level of detail and sardonic humor of the work has some students wondering whether the work is a piece by the famous globetrotting British street artist Banksy. He is known to be active in certain locales near the same time the film about his work, “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” is set to be shown, and coincidentally, a showing is scheduled at Wesleyan in Middletown, Conn., on Oct. 20, according to the film’s site, banksyfilm.com. No other tags, however, appear to have been sprayed anywhere nearby, and the graffiti lacks Banksy’s signature or the dark element of social critique present in many of Banksy’s other works (see: last night’s episode of “The Simpsons”). Check it out and let us know what you think — Banksy or Fakesy?

An earlier version of this story misstated the name of Dunham Laboratory.
